Tuesday, October 12, 2021 - 3:00pm
The first of four behind-the-scenes presentations that offer audiences a glimpse of the creative process, BEHIND THE CURTAIN: The 'Expanding Universe' Project will feature choreographer Nejla Yatkin discussing her process for creating movement, and how she delved into the research necessary for the new work based on Ruth Page's 'Expanding Universe' from 1932, which will receive its world premiere at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts on October 15-17, 2021. The lecture/demonstration will also feature a sneak preview of the new work being developed, performed live by the Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company, as well as archival footage of Ruth Page's choreography "Variations on Euclid" from 1933, which derived from her original "Expanding Universe" solo.
