Experience this multi-media dance before its world-premiere at the 2019 Ravinia Festival!

Emmy Award-nominated choreographer Venetia Stifler and Concert Dance Inc present a work in progress preview of their latest project inspired by dance icon, Ruth Page – "Dance With Words and Music." Experience this multi-media dance before it has its world premiere at the 2019 Ravinia Festival on June 1 & 2.

During World War II, Ruth Page choreographed a series of dances set to poetry, in which she simultaneously embodied and vocalized the work of such poets as Edna St. Vincent Millay, E.E. Cummings, and Langston Hughes. Stifler's "Dances With Words and Music" continues the conversation, using many of the poets Page did, but with a contemporary movement vocabulary, live music accompaniment, within a multi-media environment. "Dances With Words and Music" has been sponsored in part by the Poetry Foundation and is presented in collaboration with the Ruth Page Center for the Arts.

Also on the program will be guest artist, Ruth Page Civic Ballet, who will present contemporary and classic repertoire, and the preview of Concert Dance Inc company member, Edson Cabrera's new choreographic work.
