Division II

About the Program

Weekly schedule:
1 fundamental ballet + 1 fundamental jazz class
‍
Typical duration: 1–6 years
‍
Prerequisite: Wentworth Elementary Student

Keystone Dance Academy is a fully subsidized program that uses dance as a creative pathway to help young students build confidence, connection, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

Division II builds upon the foundation of Division I, strengthening alignment, coordination, flexibility, and technique through warm-ups, across-the-floor progressions, and center work. Students expand their movement vocabulary, develop musicality and artistic expression, and are introduced to performance skills, all while building the confidence and discipline needed for more advanced training.

Course Descriptions

Ballet Fundamentals
Students refine alignment, strength, and technique while expanding their ballet vocabulary. Classes place greater emphasis on focus, discipline, and taking responsibility for corrections. Students learn to set goals, work through challenges, and recognize their own progress, building the resilience and self-confidence needed for more advanced training.

Jazz Fundamentals
Students strengthen their jazz technique, learn longer combinations, and begin developing performance skills. Classes encourage students to express themselves with intention and bring their own style to the choreography. Through group work and performance opportunities, students practice leadership, collaboration, and supporting their peers, while building the confidence to share their dancing with others.
